Terms of Service Review

RetoSwap is an open-source, non-custodial P2P decentralized exchange that runs on Tor. It facilitates fiat-to-crypto trades using a multisig escrow and arbitration system without requiring KYC.

Non-custodial escrow

RetoSwap never takes custody of funds. Monero is held in a non-custodial multisig escrow during the trade.

Peer data minimization

Traders are subject to a 10% penalty for demanding excessive personal data from a peer beyond what is strictly necessary for the payment method, such as ID copies or proof of address.

Bank censorship protection

Buyers face a 25% penalty for using crypto-related terms (e.g., 'XMR', 'RetoSwap') in fiat payment references, which protects peers from banking censorship and account closures.

Real name required

When using fiat transfer methods, the details entered in RetoSwap must match the real data on the fiat account. Paying from an account with a mismatched name incurs a penalty.

Security deposit slashing

RetoSwap uses an integrated arbitration system where rule violations (like fraud, chargebacks, or unwarranted cancellations) result in slashing the offending user's security deposit.

    Resolved: RetoSwap Protocol Exploit

7,000 XMR ($2.7M) stolen on May 20 via Haveno protocol flaw (fake arbitrator messages). Trading halted immediately. Patch released (v1.5 / v1.6.0-reto) with identity verification fixes. Trading resumed. Do not use older versions. Affected users: wallet backups still recommended for potential recovery.

AI Summary

Updated

Users generally find RetoSwap to be a reliable, privacy-focused P2P exchange for trading Monero without KYC. However, some note that the software can be difficult to set up initially and frequently report issues with low liquidity and mandatory security deposits.

  • no kyc
  • reliable arbitration
  • fiat onramp
  • low liquidity
  • difficult installation
  • deposit required

I’ve had a positive experience with RetoSwap so far. I like that it puts privacy and user control first, and I don’t have to rely on a centralized exchange to trade

social_laundering_4514

A very nice exchange platform. Had a nice experience using it.

I have used RetoSwap in the past and have had transaction that went well and also recently these decentralised exchanges have been facing exploits which are being abused just to alert anyone most likely more exploits will be used in the future take care and who knows maybe governments are targeting these decentralised exchanges just a theory

nthpyrodev

An exploit was recently found in Haveno. As a result, the minimum software version for Retoswap has been updated to a non existent version to disable all trading until a patch is released.

If you are a "normal user", hear me out. I´ve been discovering Monero only a few months back, and it honestly has been a revelation to me. I am what u prob would call "normie" in many respects, plus sitting in the EU, so finding time not only to read up on opportunities, but then executing them was difficult. Never had used Tor before, P2P I only know from ebay. RetroSwap was not the easiest software to install, but I dedicated a day, plus another one to fight with SimpleX (to contact arbitrators etc), and find out about nostr and such. Now I´ve done my first 10 trades or so buying XMR, and for most part, it´s been working perfectly. When I did face my first issue over Easter (be aware you only have 48h to reply!) we found a solution. I don´t mind thin liquidity, as all trades are not time sensitive with me and you do find a counterparty in the end. Can´t assess the privacy claims as I am, like I said, just a normal guy, doing IBAN transfers. Also not out to hide anything, but privacy is a human right and I intend to not give it up for anyone. I do believe P2P is the future, and happy to recommend RetoSwap.

Most useful DEX P2P platform to us. TOR sync is sometimes slow, but still very reliable solution. Waiting for the coming updates!

worked well until today. Update 1.2.3 was pushed out, and running the installer in the folder I chose wiped out completely the folder one layer up from the patch chose, together with all the data I stored there which was important for me. Absolutely stupid how there is no way of communicating with the team for issues like those aside from a SimpleX group. Be careful while installing, create a folder directly from your drive and hope it doesnt wipe the rest

Made a few successful trades even without a verified payment method. When a blockchain issue blocked fund release, the arbitrator resolved it within 24 hours.

third-floor_tread_905

I almost got scammed, y'all better be careful when using this, I don't know why people keep hyping their service when it's filled with lots of scammy traders

fearsome_mortgage_3797

I tried using RetoSwap because it’s advertised as a private, no-KYC option, but I ran into a few issues that made me uneasy. Liquidity was quite low, so finding matching trades was difficult, and the process felt slow. I also noticed that some of their privacy promises and listed features on KYCnot.me have changed over time, which raises questions about consistency and long-term reliability. I like the idea behind RetoSwap, but as a customer I’d feel more confident if they were more transparent about their policies, had verifiable open-source code, and improved liquidity. Until then, I’d be cautious using it for anything beyond small amounts.

dignified_murder_2444

The code has always been open source though?

nthpyrodev

Have made several successful trades, despite my payment method not being signed. When I did encounter an error preventing me from releasing funds to the buyer (due to blockchain reorgs), the arbitrator was able to resolve it within 24 hours.

powdered_trance_7903

Yes but I had problem to begin with. Couldn't find the installation intuitively on the website.

smoldering_clustering_7161

pretty good, app is a bisq fork running on haveno

dissimilar_pottery_6095

Have had multiple trades with different peers for fiat/cash trades since launch. Have not required any arbitration. Recommend users to place an offer for their region to show that there are people in the region active to entice more users to place offers.

macabre_holly_6537

Liquidity is low, and initial signature is a big hurdle. However, given how this exchange works, this is hardly surprising.

Other than that, of course, there is no KYC, and honestly, during the actual trade, the process is far more seamless than it used to be on LocalMonero.

Wonderful, it was my first time I ever traded crypto this week and I was worried it would be a lot of trouble and scamming risks but the more I learn how this platform work, the more optimistic I am about it. I completed two XMR sales for fiat (CAD) and it went very well although the last trade took a long time to complete (almost the full 24 hours).

The only other downside I can think of is the low liquidity (few trades available) between XMR and CAD but that's not a reason to NOT use it. That a reason to START USING IT ! Come on, people ! This is the best platform and all it needs is more of YOU !

Amazing service. Punctuality, Professionalism, Integrity

non-Communist_noose_9065

Good service, good support, if you have Arch linux, installation via AUR is also possible. For some reason, this is not indicated on the site :)https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/retoswap

masked_subculture_9735

so far, more than 8.000 euros converted into monero without any KYC. 100% recommended

Bisq for Monero instead of Bitcoin. Not many users yet but this will change. Very cool platform. The only problem is that you need to put a security deposit, which is annoying if you want to buy XMR but don't have XMR for the security deposit.

dissimilar_pottery_6095

No Deposit offers now exist. The xmr seller/maker will have to create one first. The seller must share with you a password that is created so that you can take it. Usually external contact info is provided so you can talk to the maker and they share the password.

invading_atom_8819

Thank you for the information! However not easy to find someone as long as it is not for example someone you know in real life.

picturesque_sheepskin_1472

Amazing exchange! Have sold a lot of monero for EUR with no issues so far!

dignified_murder_2444

Especially for Europeans, Retoswap is the best way to buy and sell Monero. I have traded a decent bit of volume on Retoswap over the last year without any issues. It's a super anon way to trade XMR & fiat because, unlike bisq, the payments are practically impossible to map to any on-chain transactions. It is also a lot cheaper and faster because of Monero being the base currency instead of Bitcoin.

intoxicating_samovar_4245

The best fiat on ramp currently for Monero. Powerful tool. Based on Haveno which is a for of Bisq, but based on monero. Only inconvenient is you need to already have some XMR for security deposit.

measuring_detective_1164
bony_zealot_6833

I am currently engaging in trading on Haveno and OM, with the impression that Haveno offers a somewhat higher level of trustworthiness due to its implementation of multi-signature (2-of-3) security for ongoing trades. It would be valuable to obtain data on the ratio between open offers and active trades to better understand the extent of liquidity that is effectively protected. Currently, I am unable to find this ratio on haveno.markets.

Additionally, would it be possible to introduce a new attribute labeled 'Multi-signature Trades' with an associated trust rating of 5 points?

dissimilar_pottery_6095

Haveno is the software provider. Retoswap and dawnswap team package and run respective separate networks. Just keep this in mind in case a network goes rogue. There has been recent discussion by haveno team to put in place some mitigation against arbitrators that may collude or act as a peer to clear the order book. Any suggestions for the haveno software should be taken to haveno github or the matrix chat channel.

Been using Retoswap since it first dropped on the scene early last year. Never had a problem with a trade. A solid Haveno network.

Swapuz

RetoSwap feels like a solid pick for private crypto trading. Runs on Haveno with Monero and Tor support, so privacy is clearly a priority.
