Onion (Tor) and I2P URLs enhance privacy and anonymity.
- Split-trust architecture +3 +1
The service is split across two independent providers so that neither holds a complete picture of the user. One party sees the user's real IP but cannot read their traffic; the other sees the traffic but never the user's IP. Compromising either party alone is not sufficient to de-anonymize a user; both must be subpoenaed or compromised simultaneously. This guarantee only holds if the two operators are genuinely independent; common ownership or a shared jurisdiction nullifies the architectural separation.

Terms of Service Review
Obscura VPN provides virtual private network services utilizing blind relays. The terms state they do not log IP addresses, allow Bitcoin payments, but entail a strict no-refund policy.
Strict no refunds
The terms enforce a strict no refund policy. Payments are entirely non-refundable, and no credits are provided for unused or partial subscription periods.
No IP logging
The privacy policy explicitly states that the service does not persist, log, or otherwise store your IP address when utilizing the VPN.
Blind relay routing
The service claims that user traffic is end-to-end encrypted to a blind relay, preventing Obscura from accessing the contents of your internet traffic.
Cryptocurrency payments
Users can pay for subscriptions using Bitcoin and the Lightning Network, which avoids the data collection associated with standard fiat payment processors.
Tor onion service
The provider operates an official Tor v3 Onion Service for their website, offering a privacy-preserving method to access their site and create an account.
Arbitration opt-out
Disputes are subject to a binding arbitration clause and class action waiver in New York. However, users can opt out by providing written notice within 30 days of accepting the terms.

We've been testing Obscura VPN for over a month. All worked perfectly with zero issues.
Comments
It lacks some features and doesn't support Windows, but it's fast and reliable. I'm looking forward to what the future holds.
Used it for a month, it's just very solid. I don't see myself using it further when Mullvad exists.
Fast connection, stable speed, and easy to use on all devices.
Pricier than going straight to Mullvad, but it's a privacy upgrade. The trust gets split so itt kind of breaks the trust chain required in conventional VPNs.
I've used Obscura on and off for months. It's much faster than I thought it was going to be considering it has an extra hop - almost unnoticeable from a normal VPN.
The main benefit for Obscura is that Mullvad won't have both your IP address AND internet traffic. Mullvad will only know your web traffic and Obscura will only know your IP address, but neither hop has both. A strict improvement in privacy for a couple more bucks a month.
Itβs works very fast, but I think it needs some improvements.
