| Bisq | Does work and provide what is says, but monero is not a first party coin, only bitcoin is. This means you cannot directly convert fiat and monero, you must do fiat to bitcoin and bitcoin to monero which involves higher fees. As kycnot.me says: "Bitcoin: It’s the initial spark of the decentralized money. A solid project with a strong community. It is the most well-known and widespread cryptocurrency. Monero: If you’re looking for digital cash that’s truly private, Monero is it. It’s designed for privacy, works like real cash (fungible), has low fees, and is supported by a dedicated, long-standing community." Monero is the future of anonymous internet cash, improving upon what bitcoin started in many ways. There are far more services that let you use it as currency today than bitcoin because of this. | APPROVED | 0 | |
| Obscura VPN | Further note: I have used them and they do provide what they say they do, they just do it in a way that undermines the principal of what they are offering to a point of being useless in my opinion. | APPROVED | 0 | |
| Tuta | Further information: The lack of thunderbird or local email client support is because of the encryption. Standard email protocols like IMAP and POP3 support encryption in transit but not at rest, which means tuta has to store the unencrypted emails. The solution is they implemented their own protocol like proton that decrypts the emails only on your computer with keys they do not have ensuring they cannot read them. The issue is your computer needs to decrypt them and there is not a standard protocol that does this. That means they have to provide code to decrypt their protocol to you, which they can easily do with the web client as it can just be javascript. For the desktop client though they do not control the code so they cannot. Proton has fixed this by releasing an email proxy that decrypts it and forwards it to your email client. You can run this locally and the decryption still occurs only on your computer providing equivalent privacy. This is a feature they can add and really should, while the other issues are relevant to all private email providers. | APPROVED | 0 | |
| Obscura VPN | I would say the order of trust of vpn entities goes mullvad>ivpn>obscura for most people. The reason people use obscura is to absorb the trust of mullvad via a hop and add another third part for even more privacy. This should increase them to obscura>mullvad>ivpn but it doesnt: They manage the second hop transparently. This means you are relying on them to connect you to mullvad, which weakens the security to slightly better than using a vpn made by exclusively them with only one hop. To setup a VPN chain and maintain security you must always be connected to the first vpn while purchasing, using, and interacting with the second vpn provider. For them to provide the same security they must update their client to do this on your own device instead of blindly trusting their servers. I recommend mullvad + ivpn despite the slightly higher price and technical competence required if you need multiple hops. Otherwise I recommend purely mullvad as it will provide higher security due to these flaws. | APPROVED | 0 | |
| IVPN | Very solid like mullvad, with a very high amount of trust as well. I see them as nearly equivalent in terms of trust at this point even with their lower popularity. They offer their own vpn for a slightly cheaper price than mullvad but unless you live in a country with poor conversion rates I would recommend mullvad more as the difference is very small. They are an excellent choice for a second hop though if you are attempting to build your own fast tor-like proxy chain. If you do decide to do this pay for ivpn with crypto and connect through mullvad when purchasing and using always. Overall, very good vpn for multi hop setups, trades a tiny bit of trust for a slightly cheaper price than mullvad. | APPROVED | 0 |
